How to Use QR Generator: Complete Visual Guide

Follow the three-stage dashboard journey, then manage published campaigns and review scans. The five guide sections below explain these tasks; they are not five steps in the app.

Current dashboard · Updated October 8, 2026

Choose type → Add content → Design & publish

  1. 1. Choose typeUse the category filters, select an available QR type, then choose Static or Dynamic where supported. Type availability and paid features depend on your plan and administrator settings.
  2. 2. Add contentFill in the required fields and check the live preview. Dynamic pages use the available default layouts and appearance controls; a custom landing-page builder is not currently available.
  3. 3. Design & publishUse Frame, Shape, Corners, Logo, Templates and Security. Static codes are download-only. Publish a dynamic code before its PNG/SVG downloads unlock.

Use Next to validate each stage; the step bar cannot skip unfinished stages. Going back preserves your work on this page. Changing type prompts for a reset only after you have modified the content.

After publishing, open My QR codes: search, filter, switch Grid/List, and open Edit. Content Payload and Appearance change the hosted page; QR Matrix & Frames changes the code artwork. Save updates and test the existing printed code. Static downloads do not appear in this library or scan analytics.

The public tools combine content and styling on one workspace. The three-stage navigation above describes the signed-in dashboard, not the scanner or the standalone barcode tool.

1 Guide section 1: Choose type & add content

Select Your QR Code Type & Campaign Goal

Start in the QR Generator Studio by choosing your content format. Our studio provides available service types; access depends on your plan and administrator settings:

  • Website URL & Links: Route scanners to eCommerce stores, landing pages, or portfolio links.
  • vCard Contact Card: Save full contact details (name, phone, email, job title) into address books with 1 tap.
  • WiFi Quick-Connect: Let guests connect to Wi-Fi networks instantly with zero password typing.
  • PDF Menus & Catalogs: Upload digital documents for restaurant menus, catalogs, and user manuals.
  • UPI & Payment Links: Instant zero-commission payment collection with pre-set amounts.

Static vs. Dynamic Decision

Select Static if you need a permanent lifetime code where data is directly encoded into the matrix with zero server redirects. Select Dynamic if you want to edit destination URLs anytime without reprinting flyers and track live scan analytics.

Step 1: Choose QR Code Service Type, Enter Destination URL, and Select Static vs Dynamic Mode

Current dashboard type selector. Choose routing, then select Next to add content.

Stage 2: Add content and check the mobile preview

Complete the required fields for your selected type. For a link, enter the destination URL; dynamic pages can also include a title, description and logo. Available appearance controls modify the default page layout. Check colors and button text in the mobile preview, then select Next: Generate QR Code. Custom landing-page template creation is postponed; use the default available layouts for now.

2 Guide section 2: Design studio

Master the Design Studio

The QR design studio has five visual styling tabs plus Security for error correction. In the dashboard, it opens at stage 3 after required content is completed. Appearance controls in stage 2 style the default hosted page, not the QR artwork.

Tab 1: Frames & Call-to-Action (CTA)

Add Framing Badges & Action Text

Frames provide immediate visual cues to users holding their smartphone camera:

  • 7 Frame Styles: Choose from Clean (No Frame), Pill Banner, Bottom Banner, Top Header, Minimal, Circular, or Shopping Bag.
  • Custom CTA Text: Customize the action copy (e.g., "SCAN ME", "VIEW MENU", "CONNECT WIFI").
  • Font & Color Pickers: Match your brand typography and frame color palette.
Step 2A: Frame Selection, Custom Call to Action Text, and Live Preview

Design Panel Tab 1: Frame badge presets, CTA text input, and live QR preview

Tab 2: Shapes, Modules & Colors

19 Dot Modules & Gradient Fills

Transform standard geometric pixels into high-end brand visuals:

  • 19 Module Patterns: Classic Square, Rounded, Dots, Diamonds, Fluid Drops, and Classy curves.
  • Color Customization: Set solid hex colors or multi-stop linear gradients (horizontal, vertical, diagonal).
  • Color contrast: Keep modules darker than the background; test the export and a physical proof. A text contrast ratio does not certify QR reliability.
Step 2B: 19 Module Dot Shapes, Foreground Background Color Pickers, and Linear Gradients

Design Panel Tab 2: 19 dot shapes, solid & gradient color pickers, and real-device scan testing

Tab 3: Corner Eyes & Pupils

Custom Position Finder Eyes

The three outer corners orient the camera sensor. Customize outer and inner elements independently:

  • 14 Outer Frame Styles: Square, Rounded, Leaf, Shield, Hexagon, Circle, and more.
  • 18 Inner Pupil Shapes: Circle, Diamond, Square, Plus, Star, and Eye Center patterns.
  • Independent Eye Colors: Pick distinct colors for corner eyes or click "Invert Colors".
Step 2C: 14 Outer Eye Frames, 18 Inner Pupils, and Corner Color Controls

Design Panel Tab 3: 14 corner borders, 18 pupil styles, and independent corner eye colors

Tab 4: Brand Logo & 22 Presets

Central Logo Branding & Error Correction

Add your corporate identity or social channels right in the center:

  • 22 Built-in Presets: WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, WiFi, Google, Spotify, and PayPal.
  • Custom Upload Dropzone: Upload PNG, SVG, or JPG company logos with automatic white backing.
  • Security tab: Review error correction and test the logo at the final size. Recovery percentages refer to codewords, not a safe image-area allowance.
Step 2D: Brand Logo Dropzone, 22 Built-in Social Presets, and Level H Error Correction

Design Panel Tab 4: 22 preset social icons, custom logo upload dropzone, and live WhatsApp logo QR

Tab 5: 1-Click Designer Presets

Instant One-Click Aesthetics

Need a polished look in seconds? The Templates tab provides curated designer presets combining matching frames, eye styles, and gradients in a single click:

  • Pre-configured Themes: Classic Dark, Ocean Breeze, Sunset Modern, Cyber Emerald, and Corporate Navy.
  • Fully Customizable: Apply a template and continue tweaking colors, CTA text, or logos.
Step 2E: 1-Click Designer Presets in the Design Panel

Current templates screen in the refreshed workspace.

3 Guide section 3: Publish, test & export

Test Scannability & Download Print Assets

For a dynamic QR, click Publish dynamic QR and wait for confirmation before downloading PNG or SVG. Static QR codes are downloaded only and are not saved in My QR codes. Before printing, run these checks:

  • Module Contrast Check: Ensure foreground dots are noticeably darker than background to avoid optical scan failures.
  • Live Test Scan: Test scan the on-screen preview with your smartphone camera or our Online QR Scanner.
  • Lossless Vector SVG (Recommended for Print): Vector modules scale cleanly. Ask your printer which format they accept; embedded raster logos still depend on their original resolution.
  • Pixel-Based PNG: Choose enough pixels for your intended physical size. PNG is not inherently 300 DPI; avoid enlarging a small raster export.

Print Shop Tip

Ask your printer for format and size requirements. SVG keeps vector modules sharp; raster logos need sufficient resolution. Scan a physical proof before the full print run.

Step 3: Quality Check, High-Resolution SVG and PNG Export

Current static QR styling and PNG/SVG downloads. Dynamic downloads unlock after publishing.

4 After publishing: Manage & edit

Manage Codes & Update URLs Post-Print

Dynamic QR codes live inside your personalized account dashboard. You maintain total control over your printed assets:

  • Update Destination Anytime: Change the target URL, update your vCard phone number, or replace your menu PDF without reprinting a single flyer.
  • Campaign Inventory: Search by campaign, filter by type, switch Grid or List, and open a campaign to edit it.
  • Re-download Anytime: Download original SVG and PNG assets whenever you order new print batches.

Content updates preserve the tracking link

Use Edit to update Content Payload or Appearance, then save. QR Matrix & Frames remains available for artwork changes. Content updates preserve the printed tracking URL; changing artwork only changes future downloads. Deleting a campaign can break printed codes.

Step 4: User Dashboard QR Code Campaign Inventory and Management

Current My QR codes screen: search, filter and Grid/List controls. Example shown before publishing a campaign.

5 After sharing: Scan analytics

Monitor Scans, Devices & Geographic Conversion

Transform physical marketing collateral into quantifiable marketing funnels with deep real-time scan telemetry:

  • Total vs. Unique Scans: Compare recorded scan events with distinct-IP estimates, not verified individual people. Shared networks and repeat scans affect these counts.
  • Device & Operating System: Compare iOS vs. Android user proportions and mobile vs. desktop breakdown.
  • City-Level Geo Attribution: IP-derived location is approximate and may be unknown. It cannot identify a venue or exact visitor position.
  • 1-Click CSV Export: Export the available chart summaries to CSV for team reviews; these are not a complete raw-event audit log.

Real-Time Data Ingestion

Dynamic codes encode a persistent tracking URL. The application records scan activity and serves or redirects to the configured content. Response time depends on hosting and network conditions; there is no fixed latency guarantee.

Step 5: Dynamic QR Code Scan Analytics Dashboard with Scan Curves, Device Ratios, and Geographic Breakdown

Current Analytics empty state. Chart data appears after tracked scans; geographic estimates are not conversion counts.

Engineering Deep Dive

Anatomy of a High-Scannability QR Code

Understanding the optical zones of an ISO/IEC 18004 QR code ensures your custom designs never fail in commercial printing.

Anatomy of a High-Scannability QR Code

Visual Guide: Five core structural zones of an ISO/IEC 18004 compliant QR Code

Finder Position Eyes

Three large concentric squares in the top-left, top-right, and bottom-left corners. They orient the camera and allow scanning from any angle (360 degrees).

Quiet Zone Margin

A clean, blank border around all four edges (minimum 4 modules wide). Prevents surrounding graphics or text on your flyer from disrupting the optical scanner.

Center Logo Zone

Keep the logo small and away from finder and alignment marks. Level H error correction improves resilience but does not make 30% image coverage safe.

Data Matrix & Timing

The inner pixel modules containing your encoded payload and alternating black-and-white timing tracks that calibrate the camera coordinate system.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about generating, customizing, and printing QR codes.

Are the QR codes generated on this website really free?

Yes! You can generate unlimited static QR codes for website URLs, contact vCards, WiFi credentials, plain text, and UPI payments 100% free with no expiration date and unlimited scans. Dynamic QR codes with editable destinations and scan analytics are also available for registered users.

Will adding a logo in the center make my QR code hard to scan?

Keep the logo small and clear of finder patterns and alignment marks. Check the Security tab for error correction; Level H improves resilience but does not guarantee recovery from a logo covering 30% of the image. Test the final export at the intended print size.

Can I change my QR code's destination URL after printing flyers?

Yes, if you select Dynamic Mode when generating your code. Dynamic QR codes route through a short redirection URL, allowing you to change the destination website, menu PDF, or contact details anytime from your dashboard without ever reprinting your flyers.

Which file format should I download for commercial printing?

Always download vector SVG format for print shops, packaging, billboards, and signage. Vectors can be scaled infinitely to any size without losing crispness. For websites, emails, and PowerPoint slides, high-resolution PNG is ideal.
